Our Story
For over 50 years…
Wellspring Church (formerly known as Southwest Church) has been a beacon of hope in the Coachella Valley and around the world. Our journey began in the fall of 1971, when a small group gathered for Bible study at a home in Palm Desert, California. These forebears prepared the way for us to create an outpost for the gospel and today we find ourselves a church with rich gospel convictions, the best people on earth, and in one of the most beautiful places in the world. TO GOD BE THE GLORY for the great things He has done!
Wellspring Church has touched countless lives and continues to be a place where people encounter Jesus. We remain committed to faithfully serving our community and sharing the love of Jesus with the world.
Humble Beginnings
God used a small group that met in a Palm Desert home and turned it into a place that many people call their “church home.” From our humble beginnings in Palm Desert to our current location, our mission has remained steadfast: to disciple generations and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. We’re gonna make Jesus famous!

We are GOSPEL-CENTERED (Gospel Centrality)

We are MULTIETHNIC (Gospel Diversity)
“After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands,” – Revelation 7:9
We are INTERGENERATIONAL (Gospel Exchange)
“But as for you, teach what accords with sound[a] doctrine. Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled.” – Titus 2:1-6

The Discipleship Pathway at Wellspring Church
At Wellspring, we have created a discipleship pathway to help people get PLANTED in Christ, ROOTED in Christ, GROWING in Christ and GOING for Christ. Each point on the pathway is a different stage in the life of a believer and together is the discipleship journey. Our hope is that as you engage in each of the pathway steps, you will learn the importance of discipleship and will be encouraged to pass the gospel down to those around you – with the expectation that they will do the same until the world around is reached for Christ.
